The impact is going to ripple for years – small emerging economies, especially ones centered around real adventure travel, will crash and will be amongst the last to emerge from the impact.
This will impact those people who are making a marginal living from this type of economy. For those who have thru-hiked or done multi-day trips, think of the cooks, porters, guides, etc. who saw an immediate impact in a developing country. These people will likely not have a government fall back, nor will they see an immediate uptake in their income post-pandemic.
